I’m Going On An Adventure!

What should a hobbit do when their life is less than what they wished it to be? They go on a quest and have an adventure that results in returning home knowing who they are better.

My life has had many downward twists and turns. Therapy has been helping considerably as my therapists are quite creative in helping address my neurospicy challenged mental health. One of these creative methods was assigning me homework to find an activity to particpate in that:

  1. Engaged my creative side
  2. Required me to be socially active in person
  3. Could not be military or veteran oriented

If you knew me in person, you would realize how difficult this is for me. The military/veteran community has been my home and my focus for many Many MANY years. It is nearly impossible to imagine NOT being a part of that community. However, it can be a difficult one to be a part of when healing from wounds caused because of it.

One day, while sharing something I had created, the individual remarked that there were many in the Live Action Role Playing (LARP) community that would love what I created and could they buy it from me. Thus began the research and deep dive into the LARP world. I was hesitant because it seemed much of it had an element of battling and conflict, something I was trying to avoid. Then I found something very interesting.

You see, another one of my passions is Tolkien. So when I found out that there was a non-combat oriented LARP being hobbits, I became smitten. I researched, I talked to others, I watched YouTube videos, read articles, and found out about The Brandywine Festival, and the Halfling Hoedown, and other similar events.

And thus I begin Quest, embracing my inner hobbit and seeing what lays upon my path and who my fellowship will consist of.

I hope that your tea stays hot, your neighbors stay out of your cabbages and business, and you never forget your hankerchief.

Always,

Me

But….there is a Ring.
